weekend grandeur

* * * * *
Here in Canada, it's Thanksgiving weekend. More importantly, it's a *long* weekend. We'll probably go up to Ottawa for an afternoon, to see the vikings (read: my nieces), and use the rest of it just to catch up with life. Maybe a bird will be eaten, maybe not. Does it matter?
Me: "Did you know that this weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving?"
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend (from next room): "What do they have to be thankful about?"
Me (reading directly from Wiki): "it is an annual Canadian holiday to give thanks at the close of the harvest season. Although the original act of Parliament references God and the holiday is celebrated in churches, the holiday is also celebrated in a secular manner."
My boyfriend: "oh."
I am thankful for you giving us "the something new" we learn today!
Happy Holiday.
of course it matters, but how many birds will be consumed?
ReplyDeleteWe never eat turkey, we have too many vegetarian teenagers in our lot!- so both Thanksgiving and Christmas we celebrate with a hugeeee, totally decadent and scrumptious as much-smoked-salmon- you-can-eat-breakfast...which is fine by me! Happy Thanksgiving on your side of Canada!X
ReplyDeleteNo, the bird does not matter. Not in the least. No one in my family can cook a bird properly. It's always done to death and smells like wet dog.
ReplyDeleteFamily is the reason to get together. Enjoy!!!
happy long weekend and happy thanksgiving!!!
ReplyDeleteby the way i just noticed your new header, very nice! :)))
The math geek in me loves that your images are on math pages. Is there a reason why you chose math?
