Blockbuster filed for bankruptcy yesterday. Good. Eat those zeroes.
How high + mighty they used to be. You needed a fucking credit card just to get a membership. And those fucking late fees. And this when you're nineteen or twenty years old, and no one you know has a nickel that isn't marked for rent or beer or smokes, but you do know some chick with a VCR, and she wants to watch Rain Man or Beetlejuice or fucking Crocodile Dundee II, and it could be two hours of static for all that you cared, as long as it had the right ending.

Dream this morning that I couldn't remember the combination to a lock. And I was just stuck there, not remembering, the dream stalled, and stalled, until I finally got up to use the bathroom and told the numbers to the dark.* * * * *

For what seems like forever I've seen this scrawled on the bathroom wall at work ... 50

Best use of a math book I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad Blockbuster couldn't keep their profits up. But with all the streaming media on the internet these days, it's not surprising that this happened. Nice blog btw. i like it.
ReplyDeleteBlockbuster has been on my bad list ever since they refused to refund my money on a DVD that my daughter "watched" that was encrusted with boogers and snot. That same day, they wanted me to pay a late fee on a movie that was not late. Yeah, they've got problems. In the Blockbuster word, 50 minus 10 equals 41.
ReplyDeleteEryl: tnx.
ReplyDeleteHiFi: tnx to you, too. But I'm *glad* Blockbuster is dying.
Kim: Yep, they were always just awful.
Hi there, Red-Handed,
ReplyDeleteI don't know you. You don't know me. I don't remember why, exactly, I have your blog bookmarked. I must have bookmarked it because of the astonishing art, especially pieces like those in this post. These are haunting.
