sale

finally, she's ready; mixed media on canvas, 16x20 inches. $100. *SOLD*

At the end of October I'm moving out of my studio. It had a good run -- over the last two years I've produced and sold more art than I have in my entire life -- but now it must make way for soon-to-arrive Peanut ... and her pitiless time and budgetary demands. Besides, I'm working much smaller these days, and all I need for that is a desk or a table or C not asking me where the cats are every five minutes. I'm halfway there.

Anyway, in the meantime I'll be having an online sale. Any piece that doesn't move in the next few weeks will be primed over and stacked away like it never existed. Hey, I'm the Genghis Khan of the art world: flatten and erase.

If you see something you like, just email me with your particulars and I'll send you a PayPal invoice, then pop it in the post (or courier for larger paintings).

  1. Hey! There's stuff in there I want for us!!

(And re the cats. I know you lied to me last night. You know, when I said, "You didn't let Ernie out, did you?" and you said, "Oh no, she's right downstairs." I let her in at 5 am. Thankfully, she was just fine.)

  2. Sad face.

"I used to be a painter," you'll tell Peanut.

  3. oh wow! these are all fabulous! yes, peanut does need a room, but i am very confident that once you and C get your routine down with peanut, you can make new paintings of all sizes once again-you can paint them in a closet or wherever. and, if you have sold and made more art than ever before i think you have come into your own. this isn't the time to stop-yes, take a break for peanut for a bit, but embrace your arrival as a painter.

i have seen many friends do this so simmer down. then peanut goes to school before you know it and thinks you suck, wants nothing to do with you, spends no time with you and what do you? you write more and paint bigger paintings again-tis the circle of life! and, some of these might be great in peanut's room.

also, if you paint over them, my head is going to explode! if you are going to paint over them just send them all to me! i will make a special "dj art gallery" which i will charge admission to, send you the proceeds and send you back portraits of your cats for C-i'm serious.

on that note i love and want the first one of the lady with the cat mask and the weird lady in the headdress so hand them over and no one gets hurt!

artist+writer+dad=a really cool dad(except when peanut is 17). i don't know where you live, but if you have a backyard we can put a little shed out there for your studio-it will be so bohemian! i will help build and then decorate the inside(my dad had 3 daughters so one of us had to be the 'son' and learn how to work the power tools and such and mend the fences and tar the barn roof and all that jazz-i can do it!).

i still want to do portraits of the cats-wearing crowns and fancy doo-dahs so let C know and post their photos.

all will be well, you have such a unique style. tiny baby jesus cries when people like you don't do their art.

  5. I'd like to come by the studio before it's all packed up. Sacrifices made for the greater good but I have a feeling art will never leave you alone. :)
