Cigar-tin story #37.
Days 6 & 7
Summer shows up, just like that. Day 6 is more subtle about it, with the sun just sneaking in even as the wind wants to move things along, but Day 7 is real July, no messing about. In fact, it's a bit of a furnace. Both days feel like 'the cottage' too, in that we both attack naps like vikings. C gets to play with her new washer/spinner while get to swim and read. Everybody wins! Later, her nieces drop by to chase me around the sandbars. Day 7 is marred somewhat by some lawn cutting and mosquitoes the size of wind-up helicopters (who doesn't enjoy smeared insect guts and blood on their face?) but I swim just before and right after, which takes the edge off. We have some lovely walks at low tide. After dark, Little Graeme has a bonfire, just because he enjoys burning things.
Expectations? Still dim but somewhat modified towards the optimistic.

I got your postcard in the mail, thank you. Suspiciously it came the same day a postcard from my mother arrived. It took me a few moments to realize you hadnt vacationed together on the Jersey shore.
ReplyDeleteIf I survive, soon I will be sending postcards from one of the most recognizable sites in Japan.
Across continents and we just commented on each other's blogs at the same time.
