Place mats by my sister Rachel. She makes great stuff (yes, those are pockets for cutlery). Now she just needs to set up a shop on the web.

New spot illo's for my short story collection, which I have picked up again from a shelf with some pretty thick dust. Thankfully, the damned thing goes in the mail today (prolonged editing of your own work will make you very, very crazy).

Moving from big project to big project these days, while C hums along in her steamroller way, although she did notice that I hadn't posted anything on "bread-handed" lately – for her an almost eye-popping level of interest/concern. Here she is being all matron-of-the-girls-boarding-school with her new book/project whirligig, which you can find here.

Speaking of casual brutality, it took C just a few dashed-off emails to give the fish away to some total strangers (they're either Nazis or psychotic circus clowns, I can't remember which). They (the fish) will begin their new purgatory as early as Monday.

Three sketches from a model-drawing session we recently had at Sydenham Street Studios. While it had been a long time for me, I didn't feel nearly as rusty as I thought I would.

Last week I watched The Lives of Others over successive lunch hours at work because C wasn't interested (instead she watched some godawful Miss Marple with a scleratic Bette Davis). Too bad for C because it was exactly the kind of sad, affecting movie she'd normally enjoy (whereas I just liked it for its depiction of a bug-infested Stasi state).

And finally, the meaning of life.
Awesome Nudes D, I like the first one I think best ! The Place Mats your Sister made, those are great, lucky you & C.I think I see me in the corner...I need to see those pictures of you very soon so, I can get a feel for the portrait.{ That Cake tin is neat, very old looking }My Husband use to have a fish tank too.
ReplyDeleteThe cake tin was a gift to my mother from her mother. (Both since passed away.) It came with a birthday cake in it. It's a fairly sentimental item. Something Darryl doesn't get. He complains about the "clutter" on the top shelf...
ReplyDeleteI guess we all have our ideas of what a home should look like.We have our share of bickering here, mostly about too many speakers in the Family Room.Born with a good sense of design, it can be difficult to deal with at times ! :) Good luck C and congrats on your book !
ReplyDeleteA weeks worth of things - too much to take in, but in fact cake really is the meaning of life.
ReplyDeletebeautiful drawings...
ReplyDeletewow! cosmic film selections. rainer and i watched that film last week. i loved it. there was such a great slow building of things which always gets me jumpin.
congrats to c! and well, the show is looking pretty darn wonderful from here. lots of cleaning up to do at the gallery. packaging materials simply everywhere.
your little book has impressed many who have been able to tunnel through the snow to actually GET to us. 9 foot high snowbanks on our home's street makes us feel like moles.
glad to know that the meaning of life has been upgraded from "42".
cake suits me just fine.
